Skeptic About Online Work

QUESTION:

I am very skeptical about doing work online. I do survey's online, but not
making a lot of money for it. I would like to do some data entry. I have
been a secretary for over 25 years and would like to use my skills to make
ends meet in our home. The economy has really taking a toll on my family as
well as a lot of families and after reading your article, I would like to
some Data Entry from the comfort of my home (after hours).

I am really nervous about Scam's that are out there. Is there a list of
reliable companies that I can research (without paying anything up front)?

Please help!

ANSWER:

Dear Skeptical,

The economy really is having a profound effect on everyone, isn't it?

I wrote an article on Data Entry: Work at Home Job Facts: Data Entry If you click on the second page, you'll find a listing of quality companies that do not charge for your participation (or, at least at the time the article was written they did not.) I have several friends who have worked with some of the companies listed, so I trust that these are scam-free companies.

Navigating the web and the opportunities available can be very scary. My general rule of thumb is, if it doesn't look legit or if you have to pay to participate- run! Also, set up a dummy email (extra email account) if you are sending out inquiries, that way if you stumble upon a company that looks legit, but isn't, you won't fill up your personal email with spam.
