QUESTION:
I read the article about you in Woman's World and had a couple of questions.
*How did you get featured in Woman's World
*The blog websites that were mentioned in the article that pay for you to review a product - do you already have to have a blog following
*How did you build your blog following?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
ANSWER:
Hi, and thanks for your inquiry!
*How did you get featured in Woman's World
I answered the right person at the right time. Seriously. I've been in Woman's Day, Redbook, MSN Money and so on and it all comes down to looking for opportunities and sometimes, just being noticed for what you do.
I wish there was some trick to share. Most important to me has always been to do what I love and to share... but I don't have much "wisdom" to share on this subject... writing a book certainly helped lead to PR opportunities, but other than that I just continue to try to make a difference and stay open to possibilities.
*The blog websites that were mentioned in the article that pay for you to review a product - do you already have to have a blog following
No. I made a point to mention companies that accept new blogs as well as established blogs.
*How did you build your blog following?
Produce quality content that you (and others) would want to read/learn from. And continue to produce quality content. There is no better way to engage and keep a loyal audience.
Secondary, socialize. Be active and present in the groups and forums you belong to. Read other people's blogs and participate. (It's a great way to form new friendships, too!)
If you just want blog "numbers", host contests, list with a zillion search engines, optimize your SEO, promote, join blog circles, and run a search for other ideas to popularize your blog. With the exception of hosting a few contests throughout the year , I don't do any of the above, but many have used these techniques successfully.
I hope this helps! If you have additional questions, please feel free to give a holler.
